Why play Bit Orchard: Animal Valley on Nintendo Switch?
Well there’s an easy answer… because it’s an adorable, reasonably paced farming sim that’s cheaper than a cup of coffee!

The latest version of Bit Orchard, which includes the Animal Valley expansion (recently added to Bit Orchard on other platforms) was released on Nintendo Switch on April 22nd 2022.
Retailing at $6.99 it’s currently on offer with a whopping 71% off, marking it down to an incredible $1.99.

Whilst the price tag isn’t unusual for third-party indie games of this size on the Nintendo eShop, it’s more than worth the value, for gameplay it offers.

Bit Orchard: Animal Valley allows players to pull out weeds, plant apple trees, expand land, make friends along the way and find plenty of hidden secrets as you progress through a charming and surprisingly immersive farm sim.

The aesthetics of Bit Orchard: Animal Valley are made up of 8-bit style 2d graphics, not too dissimilar to Game Boy inspired tile and pixel-art games, along with funky, upbeat chip-tune music.

Like other farming and life sims games, such as Stardew Valley and even Animal Crossing, Bit Orchard offers simple and timely progression through daily tasks, that you can do at your own pace.
You can approach farming and discovering secrets as much or as little as you like, and even fast-track the end of the day by going to bed early… Which is great if you’re looking to grow your first apple trees.

Alongside growing, watering and harvesting an ever-growing orchard, you can also craft furniture which can be useful for scaring crows or designing landscapes. You can collect resources and use them, or sell them. It’s a simple mechanic that farming fans will enjoy and helps you create unique experiences.

Did we mention you can befriend a rabbit? Find ghosts? Befriend locals and build bridges?

With a basic story line that steers you in the right direction, the progression and goals somewhat optional, you can play the game at your own pace, or rush through it.
So combining the farming sim mechanics we love, with retro-style graphics we believe Bit Orchard: Animal Valley is a true winner and worth sacrificing that cup of coffee for.
