Nintendo are regularly updating the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack for subscribers. Does this mean we will see classics such as Animal Crossing N64 added to the library soon?
Today, alongside the announcing Pokémon Puzzle League, Nintendo revealed even more Nintendo 64 games are coming soon.
This is already exciting Nintendo fans, and sparking rumours of whats next…
Shortly after the release of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Nintendo Adds Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards to Nintendo Switch Online. Furthermore, Nintendo Updates 3 Classic Kirby Games for Nintendo Switch Online too. This is only one example that sees Nintendo re-releasing older games on the back of successful launches.
Animal Crossing New Horizons, the latest instalment of the Animal Crossing series, has been hugely successful since it’s release in 2020. It’s currently the number 2 best-selling Nintendo Switch Game of all time.
Animal Crossing New Horizons fans were surprised with the Happy Home Paradise DLC in 2021. This DLC is also available as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack for subscribers.
So considering the success of Animal Crossing New Horizons over the last 2 years… What’s next for the series?
Alongside the news that more Nintendo 64 games are coming to the Nintendo Switch, could the original Animal Crossing be in for a chance? Maybe… but there’s probably a catch.
Doubutsu no mori which translates to Animal Forest and is known as Animal Crossing, originally launched on the N64 in 2001. However it was only released in Japan.
Therefore, unless Nintendo surprises the Animal Crossing community with a fully translated version, it’s possible it would be exclusive to Japan if it was launched as part of Nintendo Switch Online. This wouldn’t be the first time. Many NSO titles are exclusive to certain regions, including Custom Robo in Japan and the latest Pokémon Puzzle League Now Available on Nintendo Switch Online in Europe and America.
So if the N64 version of Animal Crossing was to launch for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, it’s likely it would be exclusive to Japan.
Do you regularly play classic N64 games? Would you like to see Animal Crossing on the N64 launch on Nintendo Switch Online?
