With New Villagers Available in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp returning to the game, it was only a matter of time until Animal Crossing New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch saw new content too.

Returning for a second year, a new Seasonal Event has been made available in Animal Crossing New Horizons!

Beginning May 21st the Double Gloucester Cheese item is available for a limited-time.

This item has been added in honour of the real-world Cheese Rolling festivities that occurs around this time of year in parts of Europe.

The Double Gloucester Cheese item costs 1200 in-game Bells and will be available to purchase until May 30th.

Good day! I think that’s what they say in England…which reminds me, there’s a fun event taking place today where people chase a wheel of cheese down a hill. Nook Shopping is selling a special cheese item right now…but I don’t recommend you try it at home. pic.twitter.com/ilp1XKGOU7

The Cheese Rolling Day item can be purchased from the Nook Stop located at the Resident Services Center, or through the Nook Shopping App for players who have progressed far enough into the game to unlock it.

Like other Seasonal Events, the Nook Stop offers an Event Description for each item.

The Double Gloucester Cheese description reads:

“Do you love cheese enough to chase a wheel of Double Gloucester down a hill at 60 miles per hour? Many folks in Europe do! It’s all fun and games until someone gets curd.”

Despite the new Cooking mechanic added to Animal Crossing New Horizons last year, and the popularity of in-game food items, the Double Gloucester Cheese is only a furniture item and isn’t edible.

With that said, the Double Gloucester Cheese item added in Animal Crossing New Horizons in honour of Cheese Rolling Day is an adorable item and will be a great addition to any New Horizons Island.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is still in the Top 25. This comes as Nintendo Reveals Top 25 Nintendo Switch Games of all time. Animal Crossing New Horizons is sitting at number 2! Are you still playing? Be sure to share your experiences in the comments.
